Samsung Galaxy S IV Active : Drink Up!

Drink B*tch!

I'm sure everyone has heard of how this certain brand has come up with a new waterproof function in their phones. Well, guess what? SAMSUNG has introduced their very own waterproof baby in the form of the SAMSUNG GALAXY S IV ACTIVE! It's like the S IV, but BETTER!

If you've read my review on the Samsung Galaxy S IV, you'll know how genius of a phone it is. Samsung is taking things to a level higher now with its newly added waterproof and dust-proof function. Wait, that's TWO levels higher actually.

Anyway, here are its key features :

Quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU
2GB RAM
Android 4.2 with TouchWiz
16GB internal memory
4G

Instead of the usual centre physical button with two touch-sensitive button at the side, the S IV ACTIVE has 3 physical buttons, to add to what SAMSUNG calls the 'ruggedised' look.

Not bad huh?
(source)
I actually really want this so I can freak my mom out by dropping it into the sink or something, or just do that thing that Avril does in her video. eheh.

The Power of Three (+ 7.0)

The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is slightly smaller version of the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. As you may have already guessed from its name, it comes with 7-inch screen (duhhh) with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. A little lacking, you may think, but what it lacks in display, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 makes up with its power! Equipped with a 1.2GHZ Dual Core Processor, it can handle just about anything you want it to do smoothly and expertly.
So, let's start with the looks because its what matters most! To me, anyway. Like many other Samsung devices, the Tab 3 is made out of plastic polycarbonate and is available in white.
The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is one of the lightest 7-inch tablets in the market, weighing exactly 300 grams, making it extremely easy to carry around!
Storage wise, the device is fitted with 1 GB of RAM and comes with 8 GB of storage, which is expandable by 64 GB.
Camwhores need not worry, as the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has both front and back cameras (1.3 mp and 3 mp respectively)
In terms of software, the device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It also comes with TouchWiz and WatchON's remote control feature. With a pre-installed WatchON app, you can use your Galaxy Tab 3 as a touch screen remote for any Samsung Smart TV. A touch screen remote. It just doesn't get better than this.
Not a fan of numbers (just finished my paper on statistics this morning), so here's a summary of the important techie stuff :
Network/Bearer and Wireless Connectivity
  • VOICE & DATA Device
  • 850 / 900 / 1,800 / 1,900 MHz Support
  • 850 / 900 / 1,900 / 2,100 MHz Support

  • In a nutshell, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is a tablet made for the convenience-loving student who can't get by without accessing chat apps or games. Its compacticity and awesome features sure got me interested!

Lights, Camera, Android!

So we already know that it is possible to merge a camera together with the Android technology. But a camera with a full- functioning smartphone that can make an receive calls? Now, that's fresh! The good people at Samsung have introduced the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom - a smartphone with a camera on its back. Why am I reminded of a turtle wth.

So what is the difference between the Samsung Galaxy Camera and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, you ask? Well, the Galaxy Camera focuses on being primarily a camera, while the Zoom is more of an Android smartphone - one with larger sensor and super powered lens. It looks like an average smartphone from the front, but resembles a point-and-shoot camera from the back.

Let' get down to the technical stuff!

It's made out of the same material as S4 - light and hard! It measures at 4.93 x 2.45 x 0.6 inches, which is thicker than the average Samsung smartphone, but is not heavy at all at 208 g, while its screen is a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display. It also comes with 8 GB of storage.  I also super love the fact that it fits snuggly in the pocket of your jeans.

The Zoom runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz exactly the same as Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Its features are not unlike the Galaxy S IV, with WatchON, Group Play, Smart Pause. Smart Scroll, Palm Motion, Air View, Air Gestures making an appearance.

Camera-wise, the Zoom utilizes an upgraded version of the Galaxy Camera's interface.
The Zoom ring accesses the camera's 10x optical zoom, and also a ring with a selection of shooting modes for you to choose.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is an indeed hybrid of its own generation. That said, it is recommended for only hobby photography and nothing professional. But I look forward to more of such technologies. Hey, we might not need DSLRs anymore in the future. Buhbye bulky cameras!

Orange Fever @ The ChatON Official Launch Party

What do you do when you need to talk your loved ones and you're out of mobile credit or your phone line's been barred because you were too busy to pay your bills? That's right, you text them via an instant message app! As for me, I use instant messaging apps even when I still have credit cos I'm too stingy to spend 15 cents on a text message haha. IM apps are lifesavers and the people at Samsung knows it because they have introduced their very own IM app. Well, to be specific, its more of a chat app. Why, you ask? Read on!

If you haven't already heard of ChatON(what, were you living under a rock?), it is a cross-platform mobile messaging app, which, in simpler terms, means that besides Samsung, ChatON is accessible to users of other smartphones as well. Currently, it is available on Android, iOS, Blackberry, Windows and bada. This sunny-colored app is used in over 200 countries, in 62 languages.

The Samsung Mobilers Malaysia team and I were invited to the ChatON official launch party at The Butter Factory. Dress code for the day was orange! Not everyone's favorite color, but hey, YOLO right? XD
And and and, best dressed gets to take home a Samsung Galaxy S III Mini!

The venue. It was my first time here :)
with the Mobilers. always-early Kent trynna be sexy Hawaiian Kent

Once inside, we were greeted by an orange photobooth called fotobox. Super happy because camwhoring is my thing and this is like camwhoring but I don't have to hold my own camera haha. Plus we get to bring a hard copy of the photo  home! *happy*

> . <

Because one photo ain't enough. Teehee. And nope, we weren't drinking. That Carlsberg was a specially requested prop by yours truly *wink*

Anyways, the event went straight into the heat of things with the ChatON dancers, a group of beautiful girls decked out in orange. We were also introduced to the official ChatON mascot mid-dance! Chatty danced along with the girls to Psy's Gentleman, which got the crowd going.

Mother Father Gentleman! That's Chatty at the back!
Orange has never looked this sexy

Our very own fashionista Tyler was nominated for best dressed(why am I not surprised haha). Although he didn't win, I gotta give him brownie points for having the guts to catwalk and bust a move onstage IN FRONT OF EVERYONE including MYC senior staffs, fellow Malaysian bloggers and Samsung Malaysia's Vincent Chong plus many cameramen. If me confirm I try blend in with the stage backdrop lol. But then again I would never be nominated for best dressed la lolol. Besides, he only lost because there was a carrot-wearing, hip-thrusting guy. Ehem.

Go Tyler!

The best dressed nominees. Everyone took something home! Tyler got himself an extra bunch of Starbucks vouchers
With the man of the moment

Our Deputy Chief Mobiler Denise and YEC Youyou took home a Galaxy S III Mini each, just by going up onstage in a pair. Omagawd *0*
Just look at those happy faces. Had I known that was the prize I would've pushed, pulled, killed my way up to the stage. Kicking myself for being such a party pooper at that time, preferring to sit my posterior on the couch in the club pffft

So, why ChatOn?

Enhanced Group Chat : allows you to add up to 200 friends in a group chat

Anicons : Oh-so-cute animated emoticons(yes, they move! *squeals*) to help you express yourself better
Animessage : create your OWN animated messages with YOUR drawings, texts, and audio
Trunk : Share all your photos and media files in box for convenient browsing

Look at all the templates, stamps, background, bubble styles and fonts just waiting to be dowloaded and used ! Uber cute!

The Trunk feature, where all your shared media files are auto-stored! No more scrollingscrollingscrolling back to look for previous files!

This is how my background looks. You can also see a very rude message from Ken haha

Very chat-friendly right? Fresh and cute too! Imma sucker for anything cute so they have definitely found a fan in me!

Extra extra!

A Starbucks fan? Add Starbucks as your 'Special Buddy' on ChatOn to score yourself promotions and special discounts! Opportunist me already did heheh.

Of course, an evening like this will not be complete without lotsa selcas with the mobilers and two of my favorite ex-interns! Photo time!

The Starbucks chilling truck. The baristas are as hiau as me - saw me taking a photo and posed for this lol
Dinner time!
A very hungry Jian Quan stuffed his face with food XD
The mobilers are a vain lot

Door gifts from Samsung, didn't know what to do with the stickers so..
...I stuck em on my photo! heee :)
With Jo Dee

and Tyler
My favorite picture of the night-The mobilers with Chatty! Pic creds to Gary(Great job, Gary!)

If you haven't already downloaded and installed ChatON on your smartphone, do it NOW! Unless you like missing out on the latest trends....don't say no one told ya!

It was an overall exciting and informative night for us, thanks Samsung Malaysia for the fun. Gonna go get some shut eye now. XoXo.
Bedtime feat. my ChatOn cushion. Goodnight! :)

Samsung Galaxy S IV - The smartphone that just got smarter

I can safely say that no one have ever experienced anything quite like the Samsung Galaxy S IV. Unless, of course, you already own one. If you are one of the unlucky ones, like yours truly, who've only had the chance  of touching, feeling, fondling and (insert inappropriate term for touching) the display units at Maxis stores, then you would not have experienced its full function.

But it's okay, you get to read my review on it! Yeayyy, no? : P

As a Samsung Mobiler, I recently had the privilege of touching, feeling, fondling and (insert inappropriate term for touching) the Galaxy S IV with my very own hands! And I have to say, it did feel good in my hands. It fitted comfortably in my hands, with good amount of grip. Prolly due to its upgrade in look and design. Unlike my S III which is curved, the manufacturers decided to make the Galaxy S IV a mixture of the S III and S II - not quite as rounded around the edges like the S III, and with the square-ness of the S II design. Are you getting what I'm trying to say ? LOL. The sides also had a smooth premium finishing.
Thanks Tyler for taking a photo of me taking a photo of myself with the S IV :3

Now for the features. Jejejengg!

The Air View feature enables you to perform actions and interact with your phone by just hovering your finger or hand slightly above the screen. Too good to be true? I thought so too, til I saw Tyler scroll through our selcas just by waving his hand back and forth. I suddenly remembered all the times when I had greasy fingers from my KFC and have the urge to use my phone mid-dinner haha. The people at Samsung must had read my mind. Damn, these Koreans are good.

Then there is the Smart Stay function which recognizes when to pause your videos by detecting your eyes with the front camera. Which means that when you look away, the video pauses automatically. Which also means you don't have to go through the trouble of having to pause your own video - eventhough it only requires a tap or two to do so- I mean, pausing your own videos?Pfft who does that?? How mainstream.

Now for the camera. Geezus the camera. With 13 megapixels, it does not disappoint, producing crisp and clear photos. I know this because I spent almost all of 2 hours selca-ing with it lol. There were also a variety of options to create fun photos! The one I enjoyed most was Drama Shot. I'll let the photos do the talking ;
Lots of me!

Remember there was a time when this app that lets you create a photo with two of the same person was all the rage? Well, its now a built in function in the Galaxy S IV(eat your heart out, Apple users!) Drama Shot lets you capture a moving object or person and combines it into a continual time lapse photo. Also, notice how the background is super clear? Tyler and I spent close to an hour enjoying ourselves with this feature.Running all around the place was tiring, though.

The Sound and Shot feature allows you to take a photo AND record 9 seconds of audio with the photo. Yes, your photos can now have audio! This way,  the moments you capture will be so much more meaningful.

Another really cool feature is the Dual Shot. You can snap two photos simultaneously, via the front and back camera. And both photos will be in one single frame! Cool huh?

If you have friends who are S IV users, you can try out the Group Play feature. It allows S IV users to share music and project music with one another. Simply said, you can use another S IV as a speaker!

The camera was no doubt my favorite part of the phone. If you are a self-loving camho just like me, you'll love it too! Therefore, it only made sense to fully utilize the camera before we returned to Denise :(
This was OOTD. Or LOTD. Or SOTD. BOTD also can ahaha

Tyler said I look like a fish here hahaha

One last photo before we go. Don't you think that Tyler kinda looks like SNSD's Sunny here? XD
In a nutshell, I really, genuinely think that the Samsung Galaxy S IV is a phone worth getting, if you have the cash(this is not a sponsored post so you can be assured that this is really my genuine opinion eh). Clearly spending a few hours with it isn't enough, because there are so many new functions that make my S III look like the 3310.

Many thanks to the Samsung Mobilers Programme for this experience!

Plastic Surgery - why you're wrong and why I'm still going for it

I have been hearing a lot of comments (most of which I did not ask for) on the topic of cosmetic surgery and natural beauty. Among the comments I've gotten are :

"Why do you wanna go for plastic surgery? Later end up like Michael Jackson"

" You trying to be Korean ah?"

"You look beautiful just the way you are" (no brownie points for guessing whom this came from)

"Don't do all this la, will change your luck"

" Have you seen the cat lady???" (those who don't know what this is about, click here !)

and this particular one that started this rant :

"Plastic surgery does not make you beautiful, but fake. Work on that self - esteem and love the skin you're in" (please read in high-pitched, heavily (fake)accented, self-righteous voice)

Well, fuck you, you and you.

Most people seem to think that I am stupid enough to not do any research before going under the knife. They have this perception that there is no such thing as a successful cosmetic surgery. Well, guess what? There IS. Like any other surgery, cosmetic surgery is a 50-50 thing. There is a possibility that your surgery will not go well, and the new you look like you've been hit by a bus, and then accidentally dropped into a cement mixer but you are still somehow alive.

BUT there is also a possibility that your surgery will go well and you now have Emma Watson's face with the body a Hooter's girl.
YOU TELL ME WHO DOESN'T WANT THAT

Olivia Wilde's face with Katy Perry's body is okay too. Those boooooobs.

Also, what is with less-than-perfect people walking around town, acting all righteous about being natural? Since when was it okay for ugly people to act like they own the world, telling other girls that it is better to be naturally you than to be fake and beautiful? Geezus, isn't there a law in regards to the safety and best interests of the public?

And then there are the people who truly detests plastic surgery like how Magneto detests Professor X. Or like how Malaysian cabbies detests turning on the air-cond for you. I can understand that you're all for preserving God's/mom's gift to you. But I cannot understand WHY THE FUCK DO YOU SLAP ON MAKEUP, if it is so important to you to not alter your natural look. And no, going for the au naturel or dewy makeup look doesn't make you any less of a hypocrite okay.

Suit yourself, girls. I know I would much rather be a plastic beauty than a natural cow. At least, when I'm all old and wrinkled, I would be fulfilled knowing I lived such a beautiful life - inside and out hahah. Unlike the rest of them who will crumble their last moments away, never knowing what it's like to be beautiful. YOLO, you know? lol

I WANNA BE SO HOT, I TURN MYSELF ON WHEN I LOOK   IN THE MIRROR

This was quite a mean post, gonna go pray and dream of dolphins now.

XxXx

Samsung Galaxy S IV : of Octacores and superAMOLEDs

OMG Samsung Galaxy S IV is going to hit the markets soon.

I don't know when, but soon. And I am so stoked for it. I have been a Samsung fan ever since I got my hands on the S II and had no qualms about switching to the Samsung Galaxy S III almost immediately after it was released. After about a year of using it, I can tell you that I have no regrets in getting this phone. It is so so so worth it. The camera is super awesome and crystal clear in both natural lighting and indoor/ man-made lighting, and the front camera doesn't disappoint as well(eat your heart out, Apple users!).In fact, it's actually so clear that I have to edit my selca shots with filters so that I look more flawless lol.  I have no complains whatsoever about the S III and think that this is the smartest a smartphone can get.

And then there is the S IV

Oh gosh.
I looked up on the specs, and it was all so... tempting? It looks a lot like the S III, but bigger and it makes me so happy cos it means more selcas and better gameplay experience. However, it has a slightly squarish look, much like the SII, but it also kept the rounded look of the SIII. I can't decide if it looks more like the S III or S II now wth. Its like they got together and made a baby.
This is how it looks like: look at that screen

It still uses the SuperAMOLED technology and has increased its resolution from 720x1280 to full HD 1080x1920.

Now, I know nil about processors but the S III runs on Samsung's own Exynos Quad core, which sounds very awesome cos I have only heard of dual core and none of my friends have quad core phones lol. But the new Galaxy S IV runs on Octacore and it will be the first smartphone to boast an 8-core chip. Rare huh?

Here's my favorite part : S IV's camera is 13 mp.  And the front camera is 2.1 mp (Iphone 5 is only 1.2 mp and the image quality sucks anyway lol). You can also now record a video in Full HD 1080 rather than 720p. This is a dream come true for all vainpots/ youtube star wannabe <3

This will certainly be one of the highlights in 2013 for me. Will someone be sweet enough to get it for me?
My birthday's on the 22nd October. I don't mind if its not wrapped. Thanks in advance :)

The Caterham Duo Cali

I recently got the privilege to witness the launching or rather, unveiling of the new Caterham Duo Cali bike at Pavilion, KL. Cater-whattttt you ask? F1 fans may be familiar with the name as they own a team based in the United States and first raced in the 2012 Formula One season.  For more than 60 years, Caterham group has been synonymous with pioneering innovative lightweight racing technology and affordable luxury (translation: making your racing vehicles lighter and therefore faster and making expensive technology cheaper for us lah).

Caterham have previously made sportscars, yachts and aircrafts.

So now the Formula One outfit has decided that they want to venture into the high performance bicycle business.Hence, the Duo Cali. Manufactured by Caterham Composites, the bike weighs only 6kg. ONLY 6 KG LEH. And its not just some lousy 6kg bike okay, it was designed based on the team's F1 practical engineering experience so it's like F1 car but on two wheels haha. Needless to say, it is super fast because it is super lightweight. I so want to ride that bike downhill *_*

To make it more exclusive for all you kiasu people out there, only 99 units of the Duo Cali will be produced for sale and is retailed at RM 40, 275.

Anyway, photos!

their F1 car on display cos F1 is what they do best lol
Guess what's under that cloth? :3
Jejejenggggg!

Fruit punch with whip cream. Looks so ugly cos I only decided to snap a pic of it after drinking  like, almost half of it

Now I am waiting for them to release a superbike version of this so someone can bring me go merempit haha. keeping fingers and toes crossed XxXx
